Everyone will experience some type of anxiety during his or her life. Different levels of anxiety can be brought on by different things such as learning of an impending snowstorm or even the phone ringing in the night.
But when people discuss about anxiety, they usually mean something much more severe than just a bit of nervous reaction to some unexpected occurrence. Symptoms may be experience by people so severely that they are unable to achieve day to day tasks, such as having a job, leaving their own home or meeting people. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), approximately 40 million American adults ages 18 and older, or about 18.1 percent of people in this age group in a given year, have an anxiety disorder
People may also suffer from more than one type of anxiety disorder, e.g. a person who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder may also have post traumatic stress disorder as well.

Chances are that for every 5 or 6 people there, one of them has an anxiety disorder of one type or another. Every day there are new medicines and treatments being produced, so as previously stated there is help available to people who have these disorders.
